Spot Treatment

The treatment of skin blemishes involves a multi-step journey. The approach to treatment varies depending on the type, depth, and extent of your blemishes. Your dermatologist will determine the most appropriate treatment approach. It is important to follow the steps in order, remembering that each new step includes the previous one.

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP IS PROTECTION FROM THE SUN AND INTENSE LIGHT:

Use a sunscreen with at least SPF 50 and apply it regularly.

Shake the sunscreen bottle well before use. This will help distribute the cream evenly.

As a general rule, the amount of cream we take along the length of our index finger is sufficient for half of our face. Or, you need about 30 ml (a full palm) of sunscreen for each area of your body. Apply this amount evenly to your skin.

Apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going out in the sun and reapply every 2 hours. You may also need to reapply after swimming, sweating, or towel drying.

The strongest sun rays are usually seen during midday hours (11:00 am – 3:00 pm). Avoid going outside during these hours if possible and stay in the shade.

Additionally, it should not be forgotten that blue light (from computers, spotlights, LED lights) also plays an important role in blemish formation. Even if you are working from a home office, do not forget to apply your sunscreen.

THE SECOND STEP INVOLVES PROTECTION FROM THE SUN AND INTENSE LIGHT; USE OF BLEMISH LIGHTENING CREAMS AND SERUMS:

Blemish lightening creams and serums are skincare products used to reduce or prevent dark spots and pigmentation on the skin. These products work by reducing melanin production in the skin, accelerating the renewal process of skin cells, or removing dead skin cells.

Blemish lightening creams and serums usually contain active ingredients. These include derivatives of vitamin A (retinol), vitamin C, kojic acid, glycolic acid, arbutin, niacinamide, azelaic acid, and hydroquinone.

Blemish lightening creams and serums should be selected based on skin type, the cause of blemishes, and skin sensitivity. Some products may help prevent blemish formation by reducing exposure to sunlight or containing sun protection factor (SPF).

THE THIRD STEP INVOLVES PROTECTION FROM THE SUN AND INTENSE LIGHT; USE OF BLEMISH LIGHTENING CREAMS AND SERUMS; BLEMISH MESOTHERAPY AND PRP TREATMENTS:

Blemish mesotherapy is a skincare treatment applied to reduce skin blemishes. This treatment involves injecting components such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and hyaluronic acid with blemish-reducing properties under the skin. These components work by accelerating skin renewal and reducing the appearance of blemishes.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is another non-surgical method used for skin rejuvenation and blemish reduction purposes. In this method, a sample taken from the individual’s own blood is enriched with plasma through a special process. This plasma is then injected into the skin to reduce blemishes and promote skin rejuvenation.

THE FOURTH STEP INVOLVES PROTECTION FROM THE SUN AND INTENSE LIGHT; USE OF BLEMISH LIGHTENING CREAMS AND SERUMS; BLEMISH MESOTHERAPY AND PRP TREATMENTS; AND LASER APPLICATIONS:

Q-Switched Nd:YAG Laser: This laser delivers energy in short pulses targeting pigmentation. The laser helps reduce brown spots, sunspots, age spots, melanin accumulations in the skin, and even some birthmarks.

BB Laser (BBL light therapy): It is an FDA-approved dermocosmetic application that uses pulsed and intense light technology with different filters over a wide range of wavelengths.

Thulium laser: It helps reduce skin blemishes, pigmentation, spider veins, fine wrinkles, and other issues.

Pico Yellow laser: It uses low-energy yellow wavelength targeting chromophores on the skin’s surface, helping improve blemishes, pigmentation, dark circles, skin tone, and texture. Pico technology causes less damage compared to other laser treatments and provides shorter recovery times.

Pulsed Dye Laser: This laser targets red or pink spots on the skin. The laser shrinks blood vessels in the skin and helps reduce blemishes.

Fractional Laser: This laser is another commonly used laser for treating blemishes. Fractional laser targets the deeper layers of the skin, helping reduce blemishes.

Laser treatments, although their effects vary individually, generally provide successful results with short-term side effects (redness, swelling, peeling, etc.).
